Vandgard® Safe-Edge System for Exposed Pipes and Crossings
Patented Rotating Anti-Climb Barrier for Utilities and Infrastructure
The Vandgard® Safe-Edge System is a patented rotating anti-climb barrier manufactured by Anti-Climb Guards Ltd (UK). It prevents unauthorised access along exposed service pipes, bridge crossings, culverts, and elevated utility routes.
Specified by Thames Water, Severn Trent Water, Cadent Gas, Scottish Gas Networks and Southern Gas Networks, Vandgard® Safe-Edge provides long-term, low-maintenance protection for high-risk infrastructure assets.
System Overview
Vandgard® Safe-Edge comprises a continuous series of inter-locking, freely rotating vanes mounted on stainless-steel shafts. The 400mm dia vanes provide an formidable but safe obstacle, the most effective method of preventing access to exposed pipes without causing injury.
- Patented rotating anti-climb design
 - Proven on live water and gas networks
 - Modular sections for simple installation
 - Safe, non-aggressive deterrent
 - Stainless steel or aluminium supports
 - Optional colour finishes to match surroundings

Typical Applications
1. 12-Metre Pipe Alongside a Walkway
For exposed pipeline runs adjacent to pedestrian walkways, Safe-Edge provides continuous full-length protection along the accessible section of the pipe.
Supplied as complete 2metre kits including all nuts bolts linings and bearings:
1 x Kit1 2m long complete for ends and
5 x Kit2 2m long complete for intermediate sections
2. 500 mm Diameter Pipe Across a River or Gap
For a 500 mm diameter pipe spanning a river or open gap, where only the extreme 2 m ends are accessible, the Safe-Edge system should be installed only over those vulnerable end sections.
This targeted configuration maintains protection where required while minimising visual impact and cost.
Supplied as complete 2metre kits including all nuts bolts linings and bearings:
2 x Kit1 - 2m long complete for ends
Corrosion Isolation
To prevent galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals, the Safe-Edge system is isolated from the host pipe using neoprene or similar non-conductive barriers. All fixings and interfaces must be corrosion-resistant and compliant with structural standards.
